This page is designed to showcase the trials and triumphs our daughter’s experience. Girls who Inspire and Refine Limitless Standards in their lives, families, homes, schools and communities are extraordinary. Our girls are phenomenal because of their foundations in Christ and because of who we are to and for them as parents.

It is our hope that developing this page where testimonies and real-life experiences may be shared will help another. So let’s work to do that more, HELP and uplift our youth, especially our daughters. Because, they MATTER!

#WeShallOvercome

#WeShallOvercome
Article reposted from She’Matters GIRLS, Inc’s E-Blast Newsletter feature Dr.
Martin Luther King Day, #WeShallOvercome| Volume 6 | Issue II | January 16, 2017

Today is a day across our nation that we celebrate the man who stood for us when we did not know how to or were too tired or too fed up to stand for ourselves. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, and the Civil Rights Movement shield light on the occurrences of the unjust. They helped us as a Nation to see that injustice was not equal and that equality for all was right. Although it is a lesson that some of our Nation refuse to embrace, we are hopeful that one day, their mindsets will change.

As long as our bodies and minds are heavy with the injustices that plague our communities, we shall never be satisfied! The violence that dominates our schools, the injustices that plague our court systems from the corruption and cruelty expressed in our streets, our government and our neighborhoods should and must be stopped! We have a voice and it is our voices that must be heard. There is a difference between radical and intellectually peaceful protest. Change can occur as long as we take the necessary steps to proceed correctly.  We must understand and teach our children the dynamics of local government and begin to voice our concerns at that level.

Yet, before we implement any of this, we must have what is known as an “Uncommon Commitment to our Families.” Parents, we are our children’s first teachers so as their parents, we must understand the need for self-actualization, freedom and their desire to be independent. Remember, we were once their age! However, as parents, we must understand that they NEED more than money to groom, raise and or satisfy them. Nurture them, love them, guide them, be present in their lives, and be there for them, communicate with them daily and share your childhood/teenage experiences with them. Let them see that we are not PERFECT and because we’ve done what they’re doing, we know the potential outcomes. Reassuring our children that no matter what, we love them and will be there for them and then teaching them the dynamics of their government and how to make their voices heard with the stroke of a pen or a face-to-face dialogue, then and only then, will we accomplish the age old saying of #WeShallOvercome!
Today, we understand that some of us may be dealing with pains of a variety of heights. Measures that we, at She’Matters G.I.R.L.S., Inc may never understand. However, we understand with our current political climate, the future for some may not seem so vibrant. Yet, in light of it all, we must remain hopeful that #WeWillOvercome! We encourage you to stay the course. Never give up! Don’t give in. And like Dr. King’s dream, allow your dreams to take you beyond your limits to envision a change. Then work to make that change a reality while making a difference in the lives of others.  L

We hope that in some small way, our words have enlightened and inspired you to make a difference. Happy MLK Day! We pray it was a day of peace and reflection for all!

With Love,

It’s time for a CHANGE!

It’s time for a CHANGE!

Dr. King once quoted,

“If you can’t fly, then run,
If you can’t run, then walk,
If you can’t walk, then crawl,
But whatever you do,
You have to keep moving forward!”

To us here at She’Matters GIRLS, Inc, these words tell us that however small, just DO! If it’s the size of a pebble in the wind, a broken leaf or a grain of sand, just DO! Allow nothing or no one to stop you from achieving the dream, the vision you have within. Go forth and make a difference in your life and the life of those around you. Our communities need YOU!

Our communities need the influences and leadership of our Young Leaders of the AYLAcademy.  To some, we look at them and say, oh, they’re only babies. And in some instances, you are correct, but you know just as I do how intelligent your daughter is. When was the last time we’ve had a “young” female leader speaking out for what’s right? Perhaps what we could not do as teens or were too afraid to do as adults, our daughters, our Young Leaders can …. if only we allow them to! Just think about it!

They have a voice. Let’s work together to teach them how to eloquently use their voice to join forces and eliminate the injustices of those who refuse to go beyond that which is unjust. Be it the self-expression of verbal demand in public presentation or pen to paper, let’s teach our daughter how to express themselves in this first class nation as an agent of change.

Teaching them compassion will help them achieve greater success. What we need is not division, hatred or more violence but justice among those who are still suffering from the hands of the unjust.

As we approach the middle and near the end of our Academy, parents, you should notice a difference in the disposition of your Young Leader.  She should exhibit an increased desire to do more, to be more assertive and to seek opportunities where she’s not afraid to push beyond her limits. Together, let’s continue to make the changes in our daughters so that they will know to just DO without hesitation when it’s time to fly, run, walk and or crawl. Then and only then will we fully experience the CHANGE!

Be blessed,

Merry Christmas

Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas to you and your family on this very special holiday. This is the season for caring and sharing love with family and friends. In the midst of it all, please remember the true reason for this season and demonstrate your love by giving of yourself, your time or even your finances, if necessary, to those who are less fortunate.

Remember, there’s no greater gift to give than LOVE! Let’s be stewards of this season and give of ourselves as a blessing to another.

From all of us here at She’Matters GIRLS, Inc to all of you, we wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a blessed and prosperous New Year!

We’re looking forward to all the wonderment that 2017 has to bring!

Blessings,
